Diploma in Pastoral Ministry & Leadership

Archdiocese of Liverpool - Diploma in Pastoral Ministry & Leadership in association with Liverpool Hope University.

Introduction
Formal training in Pastoral Ministry and Leadership has been provided in the Archdiocese for some 12 years now and the current Diploma course has been built on previous courses, all of which have been offered in association with Liverpool Hope University.
From September 2015 the course will comprise two separate but complementary streams of learning: one accredited and broadly theoretical which will be delivered and awarded in association with Hope (subject to Hope approval); a second, more practical and reflective stream, providing for the development of a range of pastoral skills delivered directly through the Department of Pastoral Formation. Consequently students will attend both the Hope University campus and a variety of other venues across the Archdiocese thus providing awareness of and insight into different venues and parish resources.

Course content and delivery
The course is delivered on a part-time basis over three academic years.

Year One September 2015 – July 2016

Education in Faith (1)                                A Sacramental Perspective

Each of these units will be formally assessed.
Alongside each of these units a 2.5 hour Skills Workshop will be provided by the Pastoral Formation Department, which will complement the unit content, and will be delivered in a variety of venues across the Archdiocese.
Students will also be provided with a one day retreat opportunity during the year.

Reflective Component
Upon the completion of each unit a personal written reflection on learning across the unit is to be submitted. These statements will not be awarded a mark but will be invaluable in enabling students to complete the final unit, which takes the form of a sustained written reflection on their learning across the course as a whole.
Students will also be provided with a one day retreat opportunity during the year.

These 12 units together are worth 60 credits accredited as Continuing Professional Development at Level 4 (first year of undergraduate study).*
*subject to formal approval by the University.
