Joint evensong service for Christian unity

By Dr Christopher McElroy

Liverpool is a unique city in many ways but none more so than the close relationship between its two Cathedrals. To mark the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, the choirs and congregations of both Cathedrals will gather at Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral for Choral Evensong on Sunday 22 January.

This is the latest in a series of joint ventures between the two Cathedral choirs. In 2016 we performed Handel's Messiah together, gave the world premiere of a specially commissioned piece by Sir James MacMillan and sang on the steps of the Metropolitan Cathedral at the conclusion of the Pentecost pageant.

The 2017 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity runs, as is tradition, from 18 to 25 January.
