An exciting opportunity to participate in the future development of the Church in Liverpool is offered through this pilot project. These new roles founded on our baptismal calling to holiness and to shared responsibility for the Church’s mission are open to Roman Catholic lay women and men. They will encourage an understanding of the different but complementary roles of priests, deacons and laity and highlight the importance of people working together as an essential characteristic of mission-oriented parishes.

There are six posts available in different parts of the diocese. Pastoral Associates will work mainly in a pastoral area or smaller group of parishes but will also have the opportunity to experience diocesan wide initiatives and participate in particular aspects of pastoral ministry that interest them. Please see the information pack for further details.

All applicants must have: experience of working collaboratively with priests, parishioners and others; ability to talk about personal faith and spirituality informed by experience, Scripture, theological reflection and prayer; and a willingness to engage in ongoing learning and formation.
