At the end of last year parishioners from Holy Spirit church in Ford gathered to mark the retirement of parish priest Father John Harris and to give thanks for his ministry among them lasting for over 30 years since June 1990. Father John also saw the final group of children from Holy Spirit Catholic Primary School make their first Holy Communions at the church which closed in October. His final Mass was emotional but also a fitting celebration of the many years of service that he has given to the children and families of the parish.
With the closure of Holy Spirit church, a new era began with a merger of the parish with Our Lady of Walsingham with Father Gervase Moo as parish priest. To mark the beginning of a new era Father Moo celebrated Mass for both schools in the parish coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Our Lady of Walsingham.
