'A Dickensian Christmas' with Ken Dodd and Jack Topping

Ken Dodd, Jack Topping and local Choirs join together to celebrate a Liverpool Christmas!

On Saturday 14 December at 7.00 pm Liverpool's Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King will be hosting a special concert entitled ‘A Dickensian Christmas.’

The concert will feature Ken Dodd who will be tickling the audience in his role as compere and Liverpool Christmas no1 hopeful (and Metropolitan Cathedral chorister) Jack Topping will treat the audience to a selection of Christmas favourites, in what will be the Decca artists only live concert solo performance in Liverpool this month.
The Metropolitan Cathedral choirs will be joined for this special concert by school choirs from Runnymede St Edwards, St Margaret Mary’s Huyton and Our Lady of Lourdes Southport.  The audience will be invited to sing along to their favourite carols, and to hear some new Christmas songs from the choirs.  Following the Dickensian theme, performers and front of house staff will be dressed in authentic costumes, and the concert will feature excerpts from Charles Dickens’ famous novel ‘A Christmas Carol.’
Tickets are priced to encourage all the family to attend, with single tickets available for £5, and family tickets (2 adults, 2 children) priced at just £10.  Refreshments will be served during the interval in the famous Lutyen’s Crypt, and a raffle for two giant hampers will be held.  A retiring collection will be taken for Save the Children, particularly appropriate as Jack Toping is acting as their ambassador this Christmas.
Cathedral Director of Music Christopher McElroy said:  ‘This is an excellent opportunity for a local audience to come and enjoy a family Christmas night out led by local talent ranging from Ken Dodd, Jack Topping, local school choirs and our own Metropolitan Cathedral choirs.  At only £2.50 a person for a family ticket, it’s a bargain.’

Tickets can be purchased from the Cathedral Gift shop on 0151 707 3525.
