Journey with our Lourdes pilgrims

Auxiliary Bishop of Liverpool, Bishop Tom Williams, will celebrate the Departure Mass for the Liverpool Archdiocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes at 3pm on Sunday 19 July in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King. The Mass is for all the pilgrims and for those who will be staying at home who wish to be united with those who are travelling.

As the pilgrims leave for the French shrine on Friday 24 July, those waving them off can unite with them through their own ‘Lourdes at Home’ pilgrimage. Novena prayers for each day of the journey have been distributed through parishes in the Archdiocese and while Archbishop Malcolm McMahon leads the pilgrims in France, Bishop Tom will be travelling throughout the Archdiocese leading services in unity with them.

On Monday 27 July he will celebrate Mass at 7.15pm at St Austin’s church, Thatto Heath, St Helens with the Anointing of the Sick.  At the end of Mass there will be a torchlight procession to the Marian Shrine in the grounds of the church.

On Tuesday 28 July Bishop Tom will be at St Richard’s Parish in Skelmersdale where he will celebrate Mass at 9.30am. In the afternoon there will be a service with the Anointing of the Sick and the day will conclude with a Holy Hour at 7pm.

On Thursday 30 July ‘Lourdes at Home’ moves to St Anne’s, Ormskirk where there is Mass with the Anointing of the Sick at 12 noon and a Holy Hour at 7pm. As the pilgrims return from Lourdes on Friday 31 July Bishop Tom will celebrate Mass at 8am at St Margaret Mary’s church, Liverpool followed by the Anointing of the Sick at 12 noon and a Holy Hour and Candlelight Procession beginning at 7pm.

All the Services throughout the week are open to anyone who wishes to join with the pilgrims on their journey to Lourdes.
