Side-by-side events 26  & 27 April 7-9pm. Both of the online meetings comprise one event.
An immersive event exploring the art of accompaniment
“Are you prepared for this adventure?”
Pope Francis
As a synodal Church, Pope Francis is inviting us to journey together, encountering each other and listening deeply to one another as we walk side-by-side.
Join us for this event, exploring the vision of a Church that walks together and accompanies people in life and faith.
We’ll consider how deepening our practice of accompaniment will help our Catholic community be recognised as relevant and impactful, and how it will offer us hope for the growth of our parishes and communities.
“The Church will have to initiate everyone – priests, religious and laity – into this “art of accompaniment” which teaches us to remove our sandals before the sacred ground of the other.”
Pope Francis
How do we accompany people better?
We’ll learn together how we can each grow in our confidence, experience and skill of walking alongside others.
We’ll discover ways to promote a Catholic community which seeks to include everyone, and we’ll encounter concrete ways of both living the Gospel and proclaiming God to the world.
You will leave having begun a practical exploration of deepening your practice of accompaniment.
You will take away audio-visual group resources to continue the exploration with others in your parish, school or community.
We invite you to attend with a partner, to accompany one another throughout the day (if you are coming alone, let us know and we’ll pair you up with someone).
The day will include input from the Million Minutes’ ‘Proximity’ Project which is developing resources to support accompaniment.
This national project is working in partnership with the Jesuits, the Benedictines, Synod Fruits and dioceses.
The team includes David Wells, Phil Callaghan, Amy Cameron, Danny Curtin & Aseel Gilbert (Parish worker in Guildford).
