On Tuesday 10 June at 2pm, Archbishop John Sherrington will take possession of his seat, which is a symbol of being the bishop of the Church, in the Co-Cathedral Church of St Mary of the Isle, Douglas, Isle of Man.
On Tuesday 27 May, Archbishop Sherrington was installed at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King. As the Archdiocese of Liverpool has two cathedrals, a double celebration has been planned so Archbishop Sherrington can formally take possession of his ‘cathedra’ seat at both churches.
St Mary’s is a co-cathedral to the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King in Liverpool. Co-cathedrals are rare in the Catholic Church but exist when a single diocese spans two distinct civil jurisdictions.
