This is an exciting new role which has been developed to initiate, deliver, coordinate and evaluate the work of the archdiocese relating to social justice and environmental issues working closely with internal colleagues and external stakeholders.
Department for Pastoral Development aims to contribute to the implementation of the new archdiocesan Pastoral Plan, which is the fruit of Synod 2020.
The post holder will work collaboratively with both clergy and lay people. He or she will liaise with individuals and groups within the archdiocesan structures (parishes, deaneries, colleagues in the Central Office, etc.) and outside them (civic and charitable organisations, bodies, and networks).
The principal focus of this role is to co-ordinate the work of the Archdiocese relating to social justice and environmental issues compatible with Catholic Social Teaching and in keeping with Pope Francis’ encyclical ‘Laudato Si’'.
The post sits within the Pastoral Development Department and will ensure that the commitment in the archdiocesan Pastoral Plan for inclusivity, justice and peace, the poor, the marginalised and the environment, is embedded into the mission of the local church.
