CAFOD’s much-loved Christmas Fun Run is back for another year of festive cheer and community spirit! On Saturday 27 December 2025, families, friends, and runners of all ages will once again lace up their trainers and head to Wavertree Sports Park for this joyful Liverpool tradition now celebrating its 41st year.

After last year’s milestone 40th anniversary saw over 400 participants and more than £15,000 raised, organisers are hoping to see familiar faces and new runners alike joining in to make this year’s event another huge success.

Whether you walk, jog, run or wheel, every step taken at the Fun Run helps support CAFOD’s life-changing work with communities facing poverty and injustice around the world.

This year’s event will once again be opened by local author, screenwriter, and CAFOD ambassador Frank Cottrell-Boyce, who has been a long-term supporter of the Fun Run.

The morning promises a fantastic line-up of festive fun, including live music, face painting, hot drinks, and refreshments in the lively event village. Participants can choose between a 3km or 5km fully marshalled route, starting and finishing on the Wavertree athletics track, perfect for both competitive runners and families out for a stroll.

CAFOD Community Coordinator Colette Byrne said: “It’s just a great opportunity to get on your winter woollies, have a laugh with everybody, and no matter what the weather, everyone’s out to have a good time!”

Long-time CAFOD volunteer Mike Devereux added: “My daughter, my wife, the grandchild, the dog — even they come along! It’s one of those events we look forward to every year.”

The CAFOD Liverpool Fun Run has become one of the region’s most anticipated festive fixtures, uniting generations of supporters in the spirit of giving, joy, and hope.
