Carmel College was delighted to welcome back David Baines, MP for St Helens North, for a return visit to his old college.

As a former student, David was thrilled to see how much the college has grown and developed since his time here. During his visit, he met with staff to discuss current educational issues and local opportunities — part of his ongoing connection with the college community.

This visit follows a previous occasion when David joined Politics students for a lively Q&A session, where he was quizzed on everything from life in Parliament to the challenges of representing the local community. The discussion offered students valuable insight into political life and the importance of civic engagement.

“It’s always inspiring to see one of our alumni making areal difference and staying connected to where their journey began” commented headteacher Janet Gater. “It’s a reminder of the strong community spirit that continues to define Carmel College.”
