Teachers, school staff and education leaders from across the Archdiocese of Liverpool gathered at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral on Thursday 2 July for the annual Education Mass of Thanksgiving.
The Mass was an opportunity to give thanks for all those involved in Catholic education, and to celebrate their dedication to the life and mission of the archdiocese's schools and colleges.
A special welcome was extended to those retiring from school service. During the celebration, Archbishop John Sherrington presented each retiree with a certificate and a commemorative gift in recognition of their commitment and many years of service to Catholic education.
This special occasion provided a valuable opportunity for the school community across the archdiocese to come together in prayer, thanksgiving, and celebration. It was attended not only by teaching staff but also by all those who support and contribute to the life and mission of our Catholic schools.
Joan McCarthy, Director of Education for the Archdiocese of Liverpool, commented: "it's always a joy to get to celebrate the hard work that goes into running our schools. We're also here today to thank those retiring from education for their hard work and dedication to giving young people the best start in life, academically and spiritually."
