The Archdiocesan Synodal Council (ASC) will meet for the fourth time on Saturday 7 November at the St Margaret Clitherow Centre, Liverpool.
The council, which was formed in 2023, is one of the fruits of the archdiocesan synod held in 2021, which also shaped the Pastoral Plan.
Representatives from across the archdiocese including clergy, lay people and Deanery Synodal Councils will gather together to discuss the progress of the Pastoral Plan.
This year, the theme of the meeting is Caritas. Council chair, Monsignor Philip Inch will open proceedings with a look at the Pastoral Plan and link the ASC gathering to the Vatican Synod.
Archbishop John Sherrington will deliver the keynote address, and look at Pope Benedict’s 2005 encyclical Deus Caritas Est.
Lisa Taaffe, Director of Development & Engagement at Nugent will then lead a session on the practical models of Caritas, before Patrick O’Dowd, director of Salford Caritas will lead a conversation about the work in Salford diocese for Caritas.
Chris Higgins, the archdiocesan Parish and Deanery Development Adviser, will lead a discussion, summarising the reports from the Deanery Synodal Councils.
At last year’s ASC, Archbishop Sherrington talked about the ‘Green Shoots of faith and growth’ across the archdiocese. You can read his address from last year here: Archbishop John Sherrington's address to the Archdiocesan Synodal Council | News
