Our schools recently had their first half-term of the calendar year. To mark the occasion, we take a look at what our schools have been up to.

Primary schools

Exploring CAFOD

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Warrington have been learning about CAFOD and the work they do abroad.

St Alban’s lead in prayer on the Eucharist

Year 3 in St Alban’s Warrington led the school in prayer recently, focusing on the theme of the Eucharist, giving the powerful message that God nourishes us and loves us.

St Bernadette’s marks Chinese New Year

St Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School, Shevington, recently marked the Chinese New Year with a special lunch – and there was even a dance from Lei for the reception children!

Secondary

MP Visit to St Gregory’s

St Gregory’s Catholic High School recently welcomed MP for Warrington South Sarah Hall to the school. Among other things, they had a discussion about SEND, funding and even had a tour of the school, meeting some of it’s pupils along the way.

Cardinal Heenan visit

Cardinal Heenan Catholic College also got a visit from it’s local MP recently  - Ian Byrne.

He watched the students take part in mock job interviews as well as saying he was looking forward to welcoming them to London for the national debating competition. Good luck!

SS Peter and Paul learn legacy of one of the UK’s famous voices

Students at SS Peter and Paul Catholic High School in Widnes welcomed the Amy Winehouse Foundation to speak to Year 9 and 10 students for Children’s Mental Health Week.

In the sessions, students learned about substance abuse, gaining a broader understanding of the issues and how to make more informed choices about their own lives.

London calling for St Augustine of Canterbury

Students from St Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Academy, St Helens recently visited Westminster, where they met with their local MP David Baines, and got to see the Houses of Parliament.

Christ the King getting in the Lightport spirit

Christ the King Catholic High School in Southport have been working on a project for an interactive light art festival over the half term.

Their displays have been shown alongside other windows designed by local schools in Southport.

Maricourt heads down the slopes

Maricourt Catholic High School in Maghull have shared images from their recent skiing trip, we hope you all had fun!

St John Bosco marks National Apprenticeship Week

St John Bosco Arts College, Croxteth recently got the whole school involved in marking National Apprenticeship week – see more below.
