I offer warm congratulations to Bishop Richard Moth upon his appointment by the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV as Archbishop of Westminster. His episcopal service as Bishop of Arundel and Brighton had shown his giftedness and fatherly care of his diocese as well his passion to spread the gospel and the truth of Jesus Christ to all people. I am delighted to welcome him as the shepherd of the diocese in which I had the pleasure to serve for 14 years as an auxiliary bishop. I thank Cardinal Vincent Nichols for his dedicated service to the mission of the Church in Westminster and his episcopal leadership as the president of the Bishops' Conference of England and Wales. He has always served the wider society and the common good.
I assure the Archbishop elect of my personal prayers and those of the good people and clergy of the Archdiocese of Liverpool.
