As we enter Lent, we have collated a number of prayer resources for the whole family as well as events and ways you can give back to your local community and those overseas.
Resources for families
• Pray and play: A free Lenten experience for families
Deacon Justin Malewezi, deacon at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs & St Swithin's Church, Croxteth, has produced an online book to help parents spend time with their children in prayer during Lent, particularly when reflecting on the Stations of the Cross on Fridays.
Here is how it works:
- PRAY :Read the Stations of the Cross together, reimagined through the eyes of Saint Veronica.
- MOLD: Get out the play dough or plasticine and sculpt your own characters for a Bible story.
- CREATE: Talk about the story while you sculpt, then write a poem and prayer to go with your creations.

· CELEBRATE Trust has released a Family Activity Pack for Lent 2026, offering creative ways to help families grow closer to God during this season. They have also created a Lent game, Journey to Easter Joy, encouraging children to engage with prayer, fasting and almsgiving in fun and interactive ways.

Resources and prayers
The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales have developed a Lent resource entitled We Dare to Ask. This booklet encourages a deeper appreciation of the gift of Christian Baptism.
Donate
This year, the Archdiocese of Liverpool is inviting you to take part in a Lenten Giving Calendar.
By setting aside suggested items each day during Lent, you’ll build a collection to donate to your local food bank or SVP in time for Holy Week to support local families in need.
