Lourdes through the years: 1920s

This year, we are celebrating 100 years since the first Liverpool to Lourdes pilgrimage.

The 1920s saw the creation of Vatican City, also the women's suffrage movement also continued to make gains. Countries all around the world were now giving women the right to vote.

Meanwhile, on the pilgrimage, we also saw the story of Jack Traynor. He came home from the first world war with severe injuries. His right arm was left completely paralysed, his legs were partially paralysed, and he had also developed epilepsy.

But, after a couple of days of being the baths at Lourdes, it was reported that his ailments started to go away. He stopped having seizures, and he regained the use of his legs and arm.
