On Sunday 15 November 2026, the Archdiocese of Liverpool will join churches across the UK in marking Safeguarding Sunday. This initiative, spearheaded by Christian safeguarding charity Thirtyone:eight, invites communities to come together to reflect on their safeguarding journey, and highlight all the good work that is being done to create safer places.
The theme this year is “Love Protects”. In its simplest terms, safeguarding is the protection of those in our care. In 1 Corinthians 13, we’re told that “love protects”. It is a key part of our faith and should be ingrained into every aspect of Christian life.
Churches across the archdiocese will be getting involved, sharing resources and bringing focus to safeguarding, what it means for the parish community, and how to make sure everyone feels safe.
