As our schools finish for Christmas, we take a look at what they have been up to during this half term.
Primary
Happy retirement, Mr Chapman!
Students at St George’s Catholic Primary School in Maghull formed a guard of honour for headteacher Mr. Chapman as he went into retirement. We wish you all the best and a happy retirement!
Good luck, Mrs Hassan
St Oswald’s in Wigan also said goodbye to headteacher Mrs Hassan. We wish you a long and happy retirement!

Fun day at Wigan Athletic
St James Catholic Primary School in Orrell spent time at the Brick Community Stadium in Wigan. They learned about the history of the club, tested their ability, had a message from manager Ryan Lowe, and even got a picture with the FA Cup!

Good luck, Mrs Melling!
Another retiree, this time it’s Mrs Melling, who after 30 years of service, is calling time. We wish her a long and happy retirement!
Well done, Sacred Heart
The year 10 BTEC Performing Arts Group at Sacred Heart Catholic College went carol singing in Crosby Village and raised almost £100 for their advent charities, the British Heart Foundation and Woodlands Hospice. Well done!
Coat drive at Maricourt High School
Maricourt Catholic High School’s Faith in Action group recently ran a coat drive – they managed to collect over 100 coats, along with shoes, toys and clothing, which were donated to local community groups. Well done!
Famous Alumni adds touch to new build
Former Liverpool and England defender Jamie Carragher was at the site of the new build of the Salesian Academy of St John Bosco. Whilst there, he signed the steel and secured the golden bolt.
St Peter’s on the BBC
St Peter’s Catholic High School in Wigan recently featured in a BBC News article. Their anti-bullying ambassadors have been helping with the Giving Tree project, which has details of presents which can be bought for children and their families who are struggling at Christmas.
