Staff at the St Margaret Clitherow Centre (SMCC), the central office of the Archdiocese of Liverpool, have raised £600 for Nugent through their annual Christmas raffle.
Each year, colleagues at the centre organise a festive raffle and select a different charity to support. This year, they chose Nugent in recognition of the charity’s long-standing links with the archdiocese and the vital work it continues to deliver across the region.
Thanks to the generosity of suppliers and local businesses, the raffle featured a fantastic range of prizes.
The cheque was presented at SMCC by Chief Operating Officer Martin Miller, who expressed his gratitude to everyone involved. He said: “I want to say a huge thank you to all of the staff who contributed, it was a fantastic effort from everybody. I’d also like to thank our partners and suppliers who kindly donated prizes in support of such a meaningful cause.”
Joanne Dobbie, Caritas and Community Engagement Manager at Nugent said: “We are incredibly grateful to everyone at the St Margaret Clitherow Centre for choosing to support Nugent through this year’s Christmas raffle. The generosity of staff, partners and suppliers helps us continue delivering vital services to children, families and adults who rely on us every day throughout the Liverpool City Region.
“This thoughtful donation reflects a shared commitment to supporting the most vulnerable in our communities, and we are truly honoured by the continued support from the Archdiocese of Liverpool.
Founded in 1881 as a result of the pioneering work of Monsignor James Nugent, the charity has a long history of supporting vulnerable people across Liverpool. Monsignor Nugent witnessed the severe poverty of Victorian Liverpool and dedicated his life to improving the lives of thousands of children by providing homes, education, and life-changing skills.
Today, Nugent continues his legacy by offering care, protection, and support to children and vulnerable adults, including through children’s homes, community services, and dementia care facilities.
