Georgie, a year 4 pupil at St Monica’s Catholic Primary School in Bootle, got a special surprise from Everton winger Jack Grealish, who visited him at the school.
He was selected by Everton out of over 1000 entries they received, and his story shows how he has proven himself to be a real Pilgrim of Hope- the theme of the Jubilee Year.
Sadly, Georgie lost in dad while in Year 1, his nan in year 2 and his mum developed cancer when he was in Year 3.
James Gouldbourne, Headteacher of St Monica’s, said of Georgie: “Despite huge challenges, Georgie turns up to school every day with a positive mindset and a beaming smile. He is a joyful young man and a great learner. He is a fantastic role model for his peers and the rest of the school. I could not be more pleased for him.”
Sky Sports were there to film the moment. Students had initially been told that Ofsted were coming to visit the school, but instead, the Everton loanee walked in.
Both Everton and Sky Sports will show the video on 20 December, before Everton take on Arsenal in the Premier League.
Another part of the surprise was that Georgie will be mascot for the game at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Archdiocesan Director of Education Joan McCarthy said: “It’s wonderful for him and a fantastic experience for the whole school community. Georgie sounds like a very special young man.
"Congratulations Georgie – keep doing what you’re doing!"
