Students gathered at The Academy of St Francis of Assisi  as they returned to the Kensington-based secondary school to collect their GCSE and BTEC results.

The academy was buzzing throughout the morning as students opened their envelopes and celebrated this important milestone with staff, family and friends. The occasion also gave them the chance to reflect on everything they had achieved over the last five years.

Part of All Saints Multi Academy Trust, The Academy of St Francis of Assisi has recorded another impressive set of GCSE and BTEC results, with students excelling in fine art and textiles, English Language and Literature, Community Languages, RE, Music, Business Studies and food and nutrition.

The academy recorded encouraging improvements in attainment among boys this year, particularly in English and Mathematics. The proportion achieving grade 4 or above in both subjects increased by 5.4 percentage points, while those securing grade 5 or above rose by 4.3 percentage points.

There was also significant progress among students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), with improved results across a range of subjects. The proportion achieving grade 4 or above in both English and Mathematics increased by 14-per-cent, compared to last year.

Many students will now continue their education at All Saints Sixth Form College, also part of All Saints Multi Academy Trust, where they will study a range of A-level and BTEC courses. Others will progress to colleges, apprenticeships and training, taking the next step towards their chosen careers.

Among those celebrating today were a number of students with outstanding individual success stories, including Maye Gueye, who achieved 10 GCSEs all at grade 7 and above, including six grade 9s. She intends to study French, Maths and Textiles at Belvedere School.

Maye commented: “I am so pleased with my results and so relieved I have achieved as high as I have. I tried so hard, and the hard work has paid off.”

Mark Argesanu achieved nine GCSEs at grade 7 and above, including three grade 9s in English Language, Mathematics and RE. He will be studying Biology, Chemistry and Maths at Archbishop Blanch Sixth Form.

Mark said: “I am thrilled with my amazing results and can’t wait to take the next step in my studies.”

Ezra Javier achieved six GCSEs at grade 7 and above, including grade 9s in English Language and English Literature.

Rawa Bahak achieved 10 GCSEs, with five at grade 7 and above, including English language and Mathematics. She will be studying A-levels including Economics, History and Art.

Languages continue to be a particular strength at The Academy of St Francis of Assisi. With more than 66 languages spoken across the school community, students from a wide range of backgrounds have once again achieved excellent results, with many gaining GCSE qualifications in their first languages.

Damas Mokleo achieved a grade 8 in French, whilst Guilherme Souza secured a grade 7 in Portuguese and Samar Zubair a grade 7 in Urdu.

Headteacher, Ms Teresa Bleasdale, said: “Huge congratulations to all of our amazing Year 11 students – it has been wonderful to welcome them back into school for one final time. Seeing our students celebrating everything they have accomplished during their time at The Academy of St Francis of Assisi is a real heartwarming moment myself and the whole team.

“We believe in opening doors and unlocking minds by giving every student the opportunities, encouragement and confidence to succeed. Today's achievements are something our whole school community can be proud of. Well done to our class of 2026!”
