In response to this question, we decided to hold a youth ministry review in 2026 in order to find out what was already happening for young people and young adults and areas for development. A number of meetings were held in which we gathered experiences, feedback and ideas from priests, deacons, chaplains, teachers, youth workers, charity workers, catechists, and lay people – young and old - all of which will be brought together in a report which will be made public in the coming months.

We continue to listen, particularly to young people in orderto develop a youth ministry vision for our archdiocese over the next decade, avision which will be based on all we heard.

Our priority now is to continue to listen to more youngpeople to include them and their ideas in the process, so that can strive tofulfil their needs, help them develop their spiritual lives, and empower themto take their place in the church.

The encyclical, divided into five chapters, calls for thesafeguarding of humanity, promotion of truth, dignity of work, social justice,and peace.
